Need urgent help?
Patient information for Nigerian families

Prepare the records, questions and practical details together.

A clearer visit begins with the information your child already has—whether it came from a PHC, maternity centre, laboratory, pharmacy, HMO clinic or another hospital.

01

What to bring

  • Referral letter and previous clinic or discharge summaries
  • Laboratory results, scans, echocardiograms and images when available
  • Immunisation or child-health card and antenatal/newborn records where relevant
  • Medicine names, doses or photographs of the packs—including products from a chemist or pharmacy
  • HMO/NHIA details and any authorisation already obtained
02

HMO and payment planning

Ask whether consultation, laboratory tests, imaging, procedures and admission need separate authorisations. Request a clear written estimate where appropriate.

Do not let paperwork delay urgent communication when a child is seriously unwell.

03

A simple timeline helps

Write down when the concern started, what changed, measured temperatures, feeding and drinking, activity, urination, medicines given and what previous clinicians said.

04

Planning the journey

Consider Abuja traffic, another caregiver, school, work and the child’s comfort. For urgent transfer or a seriously unwell child, call before travelling.

05

Development and school information

Bring feedback from crèche, nursery or school, previous therapy reports and hearing results. Tell the team which languages the child hears and uses.

06

Questions worth asking

What are the main possibilities? What tests are necessary? What should happen next? What warning signs require urgent help? Who should the family contact after the visit?

The Limi difference

Why preparation works better within a connected hospital

Education should lead to the right care. Our guidance is connected to specialist capability for care that may need records, diagnostics and several paediatric specialties.

Dedicated paediatric hospital

Children are cared for within a system designed around their age, development and clinical needs.

Connected multispecialty team

General paediatrics, subspecialties, diagnostics, surgery, NICU, PICU and therapies can coordinate around one child.

Round-the-clock capability

Hospital and escalation pathways support both everyday and complex needs beyond scheduled clinics.

A hospital that teaches professionals

Our symposium, webinars and referral collaboration help strengthen paediatric care across the wider professional community.
